Biography

Kaan was born in Istanbul, Turkey. He began his undergraduate education as a visual communication design major. After three years of design education, he shifted to computer science and engineering program, from which he graduated in 2011.

During and after his undergrad, he worked in web design and development projects as a freelancer. After college, Kaan worked as a junior graphic and web designer in Link Multimedia, senior visual designer In Serotonin Wellness Center and senior UI UX designer in Nevarneyok.com, consecutively. He focused on visual, web and UI UX design during these three years.

In 2015, Kaan graduated from Web Design & New Media Program at Academy of Art University. Since then he is working as a freelance web and mobile designer, based in San Francisco.

The biggest challenge of Kaan, and perhaps his source of ambition and perfectionism, is his visual impairment. A congenital retina cancer, which resulted in the loss of one eye and left him with 20% of vision on the other one. This challenge taught him to always have a different point of view in challenging situations, and never to give up working for the better, equal and inclusive design solutions.
